Behind the Scenes Concert Workshop
Prepare for an exciting, hands-on afternoon of costume decorating, set design, sewing, and more as we prepare for the big concert. Expect some colourful creative chaos, lots of fun, and plenty of memories as we bring the magic to life together! Wear something you don’t mind getting messy because we’ll be painting, crafting, and creating. We’ll also provide afternoon tea, and here’s the best part: Dancers who attend will be eligible for a special backstage leadership role on concert day—a unique chance to step into the spotlight behind the scenes!

Monday, December 9th, Concert Day!
1. Concert Day Schedule
12:30 PM - Dancer Drop-Off: Please drop your dancer off at the theatre entrance. This marks the start of our rehearsal. The rehearsal will include stage practice.
3:30 PM—Pick-Up: Rehearsal concludes. Please pick up your dancer from the theatre entrance. The dancers will then head home to prepare for the evening performance.
3:30 PM—5:30 PM—At-Home Preparation: During this time, dancers should change into their costumes and complete their hair and makeup. Please note that Roses students (Grade 5 and above) may stay at NIDA during this break and go get something to eat.
5:30 PM - Arrival for Show: Return to the theatre entrance with your dancer in full costume, hair, and makeup, ready for the show.
2. Roses
This year, parents won’t need to collect roses – your dancer will receive their roses backstage before they leave!
3. Important Tip!
Avoid applying lipstick at home! There’s a high risk it could stain costumes. Instead, please bring the lipstick; we’ll apply it to dancers before showtime.

Yes!
Am I Ready for Concert Day?
Clean, unmarked ballet tights and shoes?
Hairpins, bun net, and extra hair supplies and hair spray?
Makeup essentials? (Lipstick, powder, etc.)
Have I organised tickets?
Is the costume ready to go?
Snacks packed that aren’t messy, and a labelled water bottle? Snack Suggestions: Pretzels, plain rice cakes, apples (avoid strawberries, cordials, or any items that can stain).
Zip-up jacket for dancers to wear without impacting their hair or makeup. The studio one is a great option, but if you don’t have that any zip-up jacket is great. Please avoid hoodies as they are hard to take on and off with hair and makeup.
Ensuring these are checked off will make for a smooth, enjoyable concert day!
